We arrived for afternoon tea on a sunny afternoon. We decided to have a table on the terrace even though we were the only couple there. Tea arrived which was very nice and the right amount for us. It was a present from my young sister for my birthday bought on the internet. We couldn't fault the food, sandwiches were fresh as were the scones with clotted cream and the cakes were all very good. The pots of tea were another matter, hot water in the pot with a posh teabag on the side. This may appeal to transatlantic visitors but for Brits, we usually prefer boiling water. Even though we were instructed on how to make the tea and how long to leave it, we had cold tea after 4 minutes. We did ask for some more tea but it was not forthcoming as was the tip!

I am enquiring about your afternoon tea offering. Do you offer a gluten free alternative?

Cotswold House is able to do a completely gluten free afternoon tea; guests will just need to request in advance.


I would also like clarifcation about accessiblity of the venue as my wife, who the treat is for, has mobility issues and has to use a wheeled walking frame.

The afternoon tea venue should be fine for your wife as they have rooms that cater for those with mobility issues.
